Multan Sultans made their PSL debut in 2018 and then slowly and steadily became one of the strongest teams in the Pakistan Super League, emerging as one of the most consistent sides in the tournament. Their first two seasons didn’t go well, as they finished fifth in both 2018 and 2019.
The 2020 season saw a change in leadership with Shan Masood taking over as captain and then we saw Multan topped the group stage that year but lost both playoff matches, eventually finishing third overall.
Their breakthrough came in 2021 when they finished second in the league stage and went on to win their maiden PSL title by defeating Peshawar Zalmi in the final.
The 2022 season was another strong campaign, with Multan dominating the group stage by winning 9 out of 10 matches, although they fell short in the final against Lahore Qalandars.
In 2023, they once again qualified for the final after beating Lahore in the qualifier, but narrowly lost the title clash to the same side by just one run.
Again, in the 2024 edition, Multan Sultans proved their consistency by making it to a third consecutive final. Under the leadership of Mohammad Rizwan, they performed brilliantly, but once again fell short of sealing the title.
So, what can we expect from them in PSL 2025? That’s going to be interesting. But first, let’s take a look at how the Multan Sultans squad is shaping up for the upcoming season.
