He was given a ‘Man of Match’ award for his final blitz. But after giving the post match interview as CSK’s captain, one saw why Dhoni wasn’t coming out earlier.

Dhoni had undergone a operation on his left knee in 2023. And his ability to stay in the middle has decrease ever since. Since the IPL 2023 season, he’s played just 212 balls in 37 matches. It’s not even 6 balls per match. But that’s where his body is, right. Last month, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming had also opened about it
“His body is, his knees aren’t what they used to be. And he’s moving okay, but there’s still an attrition aspect to it. He can’t bat 10 overs running full stick. So he will gauge on the day what he can give us. If the game’s in the balance like today, he will go a little bit earlier, and he backs other players when other opportunities are up. So he’s balancing that.” Fleming had said.
