How can Australia qualify?
Australia have their last remaining match scheduled against high-flying Afghanistan. It is basically a quarter-final, with the final sealing the spot in the semis. If they beat Afghanistan, Australia might end up as top team, considering their NRR remain above South Africa. However, if Australia lose vs AFG, the Aussies will be out of the tournament.
How can Afghanistan qualify?
Afghanistan did the unthinkable when they beat England in what was the best match of the ICC Champions Trophy. Ibrahim Zadran’s gigantic 177 thoroughly defeated the Three Lions, knocking them out. Now, it is again a do-or-die match for Afghanistan when they take on Australia on February 28. If they win, they qualify. But a loss would crush their dreams.
How can South Africa qualify?
South Africa won their opening match quite convincingly, beating Afghanistan by 107 runs. But their next match was abandoned against Australia, leaving SA with no other option but to win their last match. England, however, can spoil their party. SA would do everything to win the bout but a loss can save them as well. But for that to happen, they need Afghanistan to beat Australia first.
