Ishan Kishan’s moment of embarrassment had the IPL 2025 watching audience in splits during the SRH vs PBKS clash on Saturday. In the very first over of the innings, Kishan’s misfield saw Punjab openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya took an extra run, only for it to be disallowed for a short run.

The incident occurred off just the second ball of Punjab Kings’ innings. Prabhsimran smashed Mohammed Shami straight down the ground only for Ishan Kishan at mid-wicket to cut it off. However, the SRH superstar lost sight of it despite the ball being right next to him. The ball was in a blind spot on the advertising sign, with Pat Cummins running in to pick it up. To Kishan’s relief, however, the extra run was ruled out by the umpires. It turns out the batters completed a short run, and it was only a single to the Punjab Kings’ total. Ishan’s effort sort of sums up the IPL 2025 season so far. Later in the day, Abhishek Sharma also dropped a tough chance to dismiss Shreyas Iyer. To add insult to injury, Shreyas smashed the next ball he faced for a maximum.
Overall, it has not been a great season for the fielders, with the LSG vs GT clash earlier on Saturday featuring 7 dropped catches. The Chennai Super Kings have been the sloppiest, having dropped 11 catches so far in IPL 2025.
The Sunrisers will hope to fix their issues soon as they look to return to their best. After winning their opening game at home, Pat Cummins and Co. lost four on the trot before the SRH vs PBKS clash in Hyderabad. Kishan himself has endured a rut, scoring 21 runs in the four games following his debut 100.
